Bubinga, otherwise known as Kevazingo is a native wood of Equatorial Africa. The heartwood ranges from a pinkish red to a darker reddish-brown with possible even darker purple or even black streaks. The sapwood is pale and somewhat similar to the color of straw with a clear distinction from the heartwood. The grain is straight with possible interlocking and a fine to medium grain as well as a moderate luster. Bubinga in itself is highly durable but may be more or less resistant to insects and decay depending on the sub species. Often times Bubinga can be used to give a similar look as certain rosewoods and is available in many different figures such as flamed, waterfall, and pommele.
